Soup is Good For You - Here’s Why

Soup has always been a favorite ever since I can remember. It’s both comforting and delicious. My mom always told me that I alway asked for soup, even wanted soup for breakfast!
Soup gives us the opportunity to easily get many different ingredients and diversity is essential. The key to health is a healthy digestive system and that means a healthy gut microbiome. It’s been proven that the more diverse our diet in terms of plant fibers, the healthier our gut microbiome.

Making a healthy soup is one of the easiest ways to incorporate many different vegetables and even nuts, which also count as plant fibers. You can easily add 5-10 different vegetables to your homemade soup.

In addition soup can:

  • add vitamins and minerals

  • allow you to feel more full and eat more with fewer calories

  • vitamins and minerals don`t get discarded in the sink

  • help us keep hydrated, especially during winter when many don't drink enough water

  • make perfect leftovers

  • be frozen to have on hand

  • be a perfect pairing with a healthy salad

  • be comforting and warming

  • be very delicious :)
